I recently bought myself an acoustic guitar, which I received a couple of days ago. It's a Harley Benton HBO500NT, the 'NT' has nothing to do with obscure operating system kernels, it's just the colour (natural). I am quite new at guitar playing, and I mainly practise on my electric guitar, and I chose to buy an acoustic because... well because SUMMER IS COMING!

First I've got to say that the guitar costs only 99â€, so I didn't expect a lot from it. However, it sounds quite decent, especially after I put some new Martin Custom Light strings on it.

The guitar is lightweight, and has a shallow bowl Ovation-clone design. This makes the sound somewhat thin, but my neighbour is probably pretty pleased about this fact.

The finish is a little bit cheap. The rosette around the sound hole is a cheap sticker with holograms on it. The fingerboard is rather rough and the neck doesn't seem very nice either. It stays in tune quite nicely, although the notes are not especially clean when you get too far off the fretboard. In my mind, the action is a little too high (strings too far from the fingerboard), but then again, I'm used to playing an electric guitar adjusted for low action.

For the price I think that this is a very nice little guitar, and I look forward to bringing it to the summer's various camp fires. Now I just have to learn how to play some songs :-). And sing, instead of just shouting out words.

PS: If you are reading this on a some sort of planet, and feel that it is totally out of place, please tell me. It probably won't stop me doing it ever again, but I will think twice the next time ;-)
