LinuxForum Day 1

Today was the first day of LinuxForum 2007 in Copenhagen. It was the so-called 'business day' which was reflected in the various talks. Luckily 'business' is rather loosely defined, and many talks were interesting to me, both as being employed in the Public Sector, a student and a Free Software nerd.
I overslept, but luckily I got to the venue in time for the free lunch (the business day is 475 kr (65 €) extra, so free is also defined rather loosely). My former workplace runs Novell products and passed a ticket on to me - thanks for the food!
One of the more interesting talks were about the economy of using open source-licensed software and open standards in businesses and the public sector by Morten Kjærsgaard from OSL. It also focused a lot on a new 'law', that all public institutions must 'comply or explain' to demands of using open standards in all new purchases. Very interesting stuff all over, even though it may sound boring to some.
Also the talk on FriFinans and developing in PHP5/GTK+2 vas very cool.
Tomorrow, though, will be a hoot. The Danish Ubuntu LoCoTeam have a booth going (why usergroups doesn't get booths on the business day, i don't get), and the talks will be more geeky. Plus, I plan not to forget my wallet at home, so I can get some cool merchandise (which I of course will never use).
